A radian is a unit of measurement for angles, It is translatable to the measurement degrees. A radian is relatable to the unit circle due to the fact that it is a unit that measures angles. If you have to radius's that go to two separate points on the unit circle there will be a angle formed in the center that you can use radians to measure it with. The formula for circumference which is one full revolution is 2piR while in radians one full revolution is 2pi. Personally i prefer to use degrees due to the fact that degrees is more familiar to me so it is more natural than using radians. However, I do believe that using the unit of radians is more mathematically pure.
